Creative Writing

Novelist, poet, essayist and prose writer

Deer Apples, my first novel, is the story of a family, their secrets and their loves. Written from the points of view first of the matriarch, Grace, who is, let's face it, rather dotty. Grace has started seeing and talking to her dead husband Gregory. Other family members' stories braid through a year of 80-something Grace's world. Click here to read the first 29 pages.

Bone Box is the story of a 12 year old girl who has lost her father. Her mother sends her and her little brother to their grandparents on the Maine seacoast for the summer. She decides to put together a seal skeleton when she finds bones on the beach. But not all the bones are seal bones. She's pulled into the mystery surrounding young women who have disappeared.  Click here to read the first two chapters.
